Introducing Waymans Lightning PDF Print E-mail

Access Sports and The Christian Basketball Youth Association (CBYA) have created a partnership to provide access to the Fundamentals of basketball to kids in grades Kindergarten through 6th grade where it all begins throughout the State of Oklahoma! Wayman’s Lightning Youth Basketball League brings the legend of Wayman Tisdale to the forefront of youth basketball.

In addition to teaching fundamentals our program is created to build character and sportsmanship in a Christ-like manner through a set of game rules Kindergarten through 4th grade that allows all the players on the floor to participate instead of one or two players taking over the game. Nobody’s name brings these qualities to bear quicker than Wayman Tisdale.

Access Sports is happy to sponsor/support this program through the Wayman Tisdale National Freshman Basketball Player of The Year Award to be presented each year to the most outstanding frosh division one basketball player. The United States Basketball Writers Association will act as our selection committee and provide weekly updates on all nominated freshmen players. The Award will be housed at the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame and presented each May at the NCAA Final Four National Championship game. This non-profit combination is designed to provide opportunities to kids that normally could not afford to participate on teams, play in leagues or afford to have personal training.

Everyone Should Have A Chance To Play!
